The Sacred Place

Mommas, let’s always create a sacred place for our kids — a place where they can lay their heads down, drop all the walls, and let their guards fall away. A place where it doesn’t matter how old they are, what stage of life they’re in, or what social status they hold in the outside world. In that place, they are simply Momma’s baby.

Every child needs somewhere they know they can land safely.

For my girls, that place is the salon.

The rule is simple: what happens and what is said at the salon stays at the salon. The walls have no ears, and there is no judgment for anything you need to let out. It’s a safe space — a place where honesty lives and hearts can breathe.

It’s where we sing loudly to girl music, laugh at our terrible dance moves, and talk about life. Real talk. The kind that encourages you and reminds you that you’re not the only one standing in the middle of whatever season you’re in.

Sometimes it’s silly.
Sometimes it’s deep.
Sometimes it’s just brushing hair and being quiet together.

But in that space, something beautiful happens.

The salon becomes more than a place to do hair. It becomes the sacred place where secrets are shared, memories are made, and bonds are formed stronger than anything the world outside can shake.

And years from now, I hope when my girls think back on life, they won’t just remember the hairstyles.

They’ll remember the safe place.

A place where they were always loved, always heard, and always Momma’s baby. ๐Ÿ’›

And her heavy load

25 days ago I started jogging/walking to check the mail,in the evenings. Which is 1/4 of a mile from the house. I jog/walk all the way down and another 1/4 mile to a turn around circle at the end of our street, and walk back home on an incline driveway. It’s my“me time”at the of the day, it challenges me to finish what I started. Every evening I get to run along side a momma deer and her baby. I’ve set 6 weight goals, reach my 1st and one lbs away from my 2nd goal. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, because I love to be in the comfort of my home, love my food and my AC. 7 years ago I had a VSG (vertical sleeve gastronomy ) done a TOOL to help with weight loss, not the solution but a tool. After a year I reached my goal weight ,and got comfortable and started back on old non healthy habits, this caused half of the weight to come back on.The struggle is real weight loss surgery is not the easy way out ,specially when you have complications after surgery. It’s just a jump start to ge...

In the slow lane

It's said that a mother's job is never done no weekends or holidays off. 24/7 all year round. Meetings,Doctor's appointments, school projects, groceries, laundry, meals, and the list goes on.... After years in the fast lane and none stop speeding you get to a point where you run into the slow lane.  No matter how many kisses and snuggles you get it doesn't change the fact that your body is feeling the effects of running on 4 hrs of sleep and the lack of caffeine. No energy left and the house looking like a tornado just crossed through it.Just the thought of the many things that need to be done exhaust you even more. The daily routine becomes a norm and you realize that you have taken the load on yourself and that the people that care for you want to give you a little push and help you carry the load but you don't know how to ask for the help or even let go and accept the help.  How do you let go? How do you ride the slow lane? How do accept a lending  hand?   Lord It'...

At the Olympics

When you have a million things to do,have 3 sick toddlers that are beyond exhausted who refuse to sleep and they are bouncing of the walls on pure adrenaline. Lunch is hasn't made it down to my stomach and Its time to run. Because they think they are part of the World's Olympic Gymnastic Team and their beds are their trampolines. They sound beautiful talking to each other and the laughing its contagious,But can we just take a break and get some rest and let mamma do the Juggling of the the laundry ,the sweeping, the dishes, the mopping and ta coffee break before its time to go load up the car and head for the bus stop. Four days of being unable to walk or move about after throwing my back out picking up one of the babies, took its toll on the house,Milton and the boys were great cooking , trying to clean and keep up with the 3 little ones but even then I feel like its time to start our daily routine of cleaning and keeping up with everything,Summer is done no more slacking. ...
